cardiology

Interventional cardiology is subset or subspecialty of cardiology that is concerned with treating diseases of the heart through catheter procedures. Interventional cardiologists use other noninvasive approaches and imaging to diagnose and treat others or heart problems, such as coronary artery disease, structural abnormalities, congenital heart disease, and vascular diseases. These interventions employ complex catheterisation procedures, where small catheters are introduced through small ports that may be made directly on the arteries as well as veins.Coronary artery disease that causes blockage can be corrected by use of stents that eliminate the need for the patient to undergo coronary artery bypass operation. Furthermore, abnormalities in the heart can be reconstructed, using tools placed through the veins in the leg, which means that there are no need of traditional operations.
At the same time, transcatheter valve replacement operations that imply the use of new valves or the placement of valves within the previously implemented surgical valves also make use of the facilities of cutting-edge technology.
